DISASTROUS STABLE FIRE
A cabled report states that the 20 horses belonging to Mrs Elizabeth Grdham, which were destroyed when a disastrous fire swept the Arlington Park racecourse stables in Chicago, were valued at about 500,000 dollars. Among the seven horses rescued was Beau Gay, one of the leading two-year-olds in America last year, which cost 46.000 dollars as a yearling. At sa^es . Mrs Graham spent 287,700 dollars on 20 yearlings, ana bv October 20 of the following season had won 264,795 dollars with four of them. Star Pilot, Knockdown. They Say. and Beau Gay.
Reappearance at Foxton Master Robin is due to appear in the open sprint at Foxton to-day, his first appearance since he finished fifth in the last Great Northern Derby, that being his only unplaced performance in seven starts. Although Al-Sirat beat him in the New Zealand Derby at Riccarton, Master Robin finished ahead of the Derby winner in the Churchill Gold Cup and was third in a head and head finish in the Canterbury Cup on the succeeding days of the meeting. Master Kobin is probably one of the best stayers among the three-year-olds, and as he does not seem to be troubled by softer going, he may have good prospects this winter.

On the automatic barometer no pronounced movement is noticeable once there Is any volume of betting, unless a very large amount is invested on one horse. South Canterbury J.C.
