B.M.A. ATTITUDE TO BILL (Rec. 9.45 p.m.) LONDON, May 1. After consideration all day of more than 250 resolutions, the special committee of the British Medical Association on the National Health Services Bill decided by 229 votes to 13 that the buying and selling of practices was essential for the freedom of doctor and patient. The committee also decided by 214 votes to two againM control over doctors in the choice of location for practices. An amendment approving Sffiteowned hospitals if the constitution of regional boards were acceptable to the profession, was defeated by 210 votes to 29. The meeting heavily supported the B.M.A. Council in its decision to take any action to secure amendments to the bill.
