Advt - First Race , Nurse, engaged in the Bradley Stakes at Motukarara to-day, is a four-year-old by Man’s Pal from Miss Carling and is trained at Rakaia by J. T. Beard. This will be her first appearance in public. At Rangiora Gold Nugget-4s now trailed at Rangiora by G. H. Murfitt for Mr C. L. Smith. He has not raced this season. Dangerous Candidate Racket has thrived on her hard racing in recent months, and carries more solid conditiori than earlier in the season. She won well over nine furlongs at Blenheim, after being definitely unlucky in the Marlborough Cup on the first day. and with 7-3 she will be receiving 2st 31b from Benbecula, which will no doubt be sent out favourite. Benbecula is a class above those opposed to him, but 9-6 is a severe burden over a mile and a quarter journey. Off the Scene Koa Manu’s injury to a foot proved to be more serious than at first considered, and . she will require a, spell from serious work for a while. She was withdrawn from her Motukarara engagement on Thursday. A Class Colt , Al Sirat will be an interesting competitor at Motukarara to-day. He has been in steady wofk at Riccarton since he raced at Trentham in January, and although he was ridden out when beaten by Bridge Acre in a gallop on Thursday, little notice need be taken of that, as he has never been a free track worker and is yet unaccustomed to galloping on a loose plough track. Class will stand to him to-day. Looks Likely Lord Elgin has been showing the effects of galloping on hard ground and yesterday’s rain should improve his prospects to-day. He is booked to contest the Challenge Stakes at Trentham next Saturday. First Appearance There will be several fresh horses at Wingatui to-day, including Amorlad, making his first appearance as a hurdler. Others are Lance Art, Putechan, Quadrille, Red Pickle, The Dictator, Whakawhatea. Hunting Charm, Patmos, Killarney, Astros, John Gay, Lance Wing, Lisht*en, and St. Nattar. At Oamaru
