Canterbury Federation—At a meeting Of the Canterbury Federation of Women’s Institutes held in Harmony Hall, Miss E. Le Lievre congratulated Mrs W. Deans on her award of the British Empire Medal. Mrs Davis, secretary, reported on the knitting competition being organised by the Wool Board, and appealed as chairwoman of the soaps and fats committee of CORSO, for gifts of soaps and fats to be left at the receiving depot, l 202 Hereford street. It was decided to give a donation of £l5, the balance of a patriotic collection, to the distress committee of the Returned Services’ Association, for distribution among necessitous cases. Mrs Macdonald reported that Miss Robins, coordinating tutor, was now working in the Malvern district. Miss A. Morten was chosen as the delegate to attend the visiting teachers’ conference to be held at Canterbury College. An invtiation was received for members to attend a farewell function to Sir Cyril and Lady Newall In March. It was announced that Mrs Sawer, of the Dominion executive, would conduct a school of procedure on April 4. Arrangements were made for a meeting of the federation to be held on April 10, and nominations for the committee were received.
