PROFESSOR JAMES WILLIAMS, dean of the faculty of law, has resigned from the Sydney Uniyersity staff and will return to New Zealand. A member of the Senate said Professor Williams had resigned because of long-standing disagreements with Professor Julius Stone, of the International Jurisprudence School in the law faculty, another former New Zealand professor. They were both appointed in November. 1941, after one of the biggest storms in university history, when the Chancellor and three other legal members of the Senate resigned in protest against the filling of vacant chairs in war time.—Sydney, February 13.
