N.Z. FOOD GIFTS
(Rec. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 12. Gifts of food sent from New Zealand to Britain under the “Bites f|»r Britain” campaign, which are mostly perishable, are being bought by the Ministry of Food to be distributed in the general ration. The money will be devoted to buying non-perishable New Zealand tinned foods off the ration, which will be distributed as gifts from the Dominion. This is the policy of the Ministry with gifts of perishable foods such as meat and butter from all the Dominions. It was adopted because of the difficulty of sharing equally rationed foods among the public. It is desired to avoid the inevitable disappointment of one family in receiving such a gift while the family next door gets none. •
