LAUNCH TRAGEDY IN TORY CHANNEL
INQUIRY HELD BEFORE MAGISTRATE (P.A.) BLENHEIM, Feb. 13. The marine inquiry into the mishap to the launch Sterling, which was a /ashed on to rocks in Tory Channel cn December 9, resulting in two members of the Blenheim Deep Sea Fishing Club, Messrs Kenneth Fyfe and Wallace Jellyman, losing their lives, ended before Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M., yesterday. Feints for the Court’s determination were: (1) what was the cause of the casualty- (2) were the stranding and loss of life caused by or due to any act of negligence by the owners or person in charge of the launch; (3) could the casualty have been avoided, and if so, what precautions should have been taken? The Court’s report will be forwarded to the Marine Department.
