BIG SHIPMENT OF BANANAS ARRIVES AT LYTTELTON.—The Government motor-vessel Maul Pomare, making her first trip to discharge fruit since 1944, arrived at Lyttelton yesterday morning with a cargo of 4784 cases of bananas and 183 cases of Cook Island lemons. These photographs show cases being unloaded from the hold of the Maui Pomare, and children eating bananas which were given to them by members of the ship’s crew.
