DR. CAMPBELL’S NEW POST
N.Z. REPRESENTATIVE AT CONFERENCES (Special Correspondent N.Z.PA.) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 12. It is understood that Dr. R. M. Campbell. Acting-High Commissioner, who the Prime Minister (Mr Peter Fraser) recently said would have a “roving commission,” will sail for New Zealand next week. There he will be engaged in discussions with the Minister of Finance (Mr Walter Nash) before returning to England with Mr Nash and the New Zealand delegation to attend the Imperial economic and trade talks beginning on May 15. He will also attend the trade conference of 15 nations scheduled to begin on July 1. Later in the year it is understood he may take up a Government position in the United States. Dr. ,Campbell during his 10 years in London was first economic adviser to the High Commissioner and then official secretary.
Politics in Persia. — The Persian Secretary for Political Affairs announced that the Prime .Minister (Ghavam Sultaneh) has restored freedom of assembly for political parties which was prohibited six months ago. He gave a warning that anyone “trying to undermine public order and security” would be punished.— Teheran, February 11.
