(P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 1. A two-day match between senior teams representing Wellington and Nelson opened in dull weather on a rain-affected wicket at the Basin Reserve. Nelson, in the first innings, scored 138 (T. A. Buch 40, B. G_ Gully 57). Bowling for Wellington, G. L. Whyte took four wicketa for 38, K. Parkin three for 45, and D. Beard two for 28. Wellington replied wrih 145 (T. Russ 55, S. Wilde 29, R. S. Challies six for 58, J. Hall four for 41).
