CANTERBURY MARKETS Small Seeds: With the export season over there Is not much activity nor are there many lines available. Ryegrass: There' are a few lines available, chiefly those with a lower germination.

Cocksfoot: Most of the 1945 crap purchased at high prices has to be carried forward, as the export demand did not absorb the quantity expected. Prospects for disposal of the 1946 crop, therefore, are not bright at present. Contracts: Most of the contracts for crops have been arranged and sowing completed. Potatoes: There is still a local and West Coast demand for old potatoes, but there are quantities held in the country which the market has been unable to absorb. Negotiations are proceeding undrr the Government contract scheme regarding compensation to the growers for such lines.

Following are current prices to growers: Chaff: £5 10s a ton, nominal. Oats: Garton. 3s 8d a bushel; Algerians, 4s Gd to ss; Duns, ss: black oats, 4s to 4s Gd (nominal).

Potatoes (old): According to quality. Onions: Old season's, f.a.q. £34, ungraded £25; new season's, f.a.q. £2B, ungraded £23.
