CANTERBURY J.C. TO-MORROW'S PROSPECTS The Canterbury Jockey Club's New Zealand Victory Cup meeting will be concluded to-morrow. In spite of the long-drawn-out programme, and the hard nature of the tracks upon which horses have had to race and work in recent weeks, the fields are remarkably well tilled.

The course proper benefited by the rain on Saturday, Wednesday, and yesterday, and the going will not be conducive to fast times.

The principal events will be the Fendalton Handicap, the Canterbury Cup, and the Members" Handicap. The field for the canterbury Cup has dwindled considerably, but although Golden Souvenir is certain to be considered the best proZZf? 0 ?- h S wIU be ke Pt U P *° his work ?h™ f mll « and a ha» by the four M«ri^ ea x r "? ldS . en eaged. and by . Mr D. Gordon received a large offer for the trotter Kildonnin at the Forbury Park meeting, and it would not be surprising if the Quite Sure gelding does his future racing in Canterbury. Kildonnin S. as Jl a I ro S ly J? eaten fe y Herewaka in the St..Kilda Handicap, after setting a strong pace throughout. On His Home Course Great Show finished strongly at Oamaru in second place in a division of the Trial Handicap, and on the strength of that effort he was expected to race well at Forbury, but a break early in the race cost him any chance he had. This Sandydale fielding is owned and trained at Waikouaiti *by T. W. Allcock, and he should race prominently on his home course on New Year's Day. Back In .Work

Scott Axworthy was given an easy time , oT <u w £ ile a i ter hls second to War Form in the King George Handicap at the Forbury Park Trotting Club's meeting on October 13, but he is now back in serious work and will probably make his next appearance in the President's Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club's meet<?A»). on 'pP? cern 5 er 22 a. rhe speedy U. Mr H. H. Booth intends to start the Australian-bred Offender at the.Wairio non-totalisator meeting on Saturday, and his running will" be followed with interest. Offender has proved difficult to train, out he has shown speed in his work, and he may develop into a useful stakeearner in New Zealand. Finished Fast

Renown's Pride, which has been nominated for the Glendore Trot at the Hororata Racing Club's meeting next week. f a ™„?« bes * Performance this season in a division of the Westward Ho Handicap at the Methven Trotting Club's meeting, where, after making a slow beginning she finished fast in third place behind Good Review and Direct Medium. Later in the-day she did not get a chance to show her best form in the Mount Hutt Handicap, as she collided with Sand Maid at the start and took no part in the race. Trained by A. Holmes, Renown's Pride is by Jack Potts from Renown's Best, which is by.Grattan Loyal from Renown. Dfd Not Impress

The Townley-trained Kathleen's Voyage has a lot to learn before she can be. supported with any confidence iirher races. By Maxegin from Edith Voyage, the dam of a smart trotter in Loughros, she attracts attention on breeding, but her effort in the St. Kilda Handicap, in which she was slow away and then broke, suggests that she will need more experience before she can be seriously considered. Did Not Carry On Cumnock showed tip in the middle stages of the Forbury Handicap, when she* made a run around the outside 'of the field to be handy to the leaders, but she did not carry on with it, and was beaten with half, a mile to go. Can-Trot Fast

After playing up before the start of the E. O. Brownlee Memorial • Handicap at Waikato, Aerial Scott started smoothly to be handy to the leaders, and when asked to do his best he went on to win by 10 lengths from Rosewaa. The wellbacked Vindictive Lady, which wafe driven by D. McKendry, looked like being 'his most serious opponent at one stage of the race, but a prolonged break cost her a lot of ground, and she was beaten into third place. Unlucky *

Lanaco was the unlucky runner in the December Handicap at Forbury, as she was hemmed in on the rails at a vital stage of the race, and did not get a chance to make a run until tcfo late. The Jack Potts—Locality mare has been placed in three of her six starts this season, and ; she looks a good prospect over sprint distances at the holiday meetings. Some interesting work was seen, but except in a few sprints, no startling times were recorded. On the Course The first to appear, as soon as the tracks were open, were Master Dash and Master Robin, which strode along the back, and ran home half a mile in 50sec. Both are likely to carry strong support to-morrow. Chain, Racket, and Denary finished close together in that order, after covering six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the last four in 51 3-ssec. 'A few gallops took place on the trial grass. Palm Bearer sprinted home three furlongs in 35sec, and Ration ran half a mile in 42 3-ssec. Martial-Note and Salmi followed in SOsec, and Vafort strode over seven furlongs in company with Deep Harmony in lmin 30 2-ssec. '.he last four in 51sec. ' Over Hurdles
