SEVERAL RECORDS BROKEN
NORTH CANTERBURY DISTRICT HIGH . SCHOOL SPORTS Several records were broken at Rug lay Park yesterday morning when the North Canterbury District High Schools held their annual athletic sports meeting. It was the first meeting held since 1941. in the boys' senior high jump. L' Brooker. ol Hawarden, cleared sft 32in to break the existing record. New records were set by S. Thomson, Methven, 4ft 81n in the junior high jump. R. Prebble. Methven. 4ft sin. in the girls' senior high jump, and M. McGirr, 14ft 3in, in the girls' junior, long jump. The results were as follows, the abbreviations used being: New Brighton, N. 8.; Hawarden, ' H.; Methven. M.: Southbridge, S.; Lincoln. L.; Akaroa, A : Boys' Events
Senior.—Long jump: W. Houston (M.) 1, D. Draper (H.) 2, A. Brown (S.) 3. Distance, 17ft Bin. High jump: L. Brooker (H.) 1, K. Milne (H.) and D. McKay (M.) (equal) 2. Height, sft 32in. Cricket ball throw: Denton (H.) 1, Crean (H.) 2, Brown (S.) 3. Distance, 84yds lft.
Junior.—High jump: S. Thomson (M.) l, B. Jones (N:B.) 2, J. Trounce (H.). J. Power (H.), and Payne (L.) (equal) 3. Height. 4ft Bin. Girls' Events
Senior.—High jump: R. Prebble (M.) 1, D. Wilson (H.) 2. R. Henderson (H.) 3. Height, 4ft sin. Overhead ball: Hawarden 1. Methven 2, Southbridge 3. Time. 50sec.
Junior.—Long jump: M. McGirr (M.) 1, B. Underhay (N. 8.) 2, S. Clare (N. 8.) 3. Distance,, 14ft 3in.
