♦. . NEW ZEALAND OFFICER DECORATED (P.A.) _ NAPIER, December 5. An impressive ceremony was performed yesterday afternoon when Captain G. W. Stewart, 2nd N.Z.EF of Napier, was presented with the American Bronze Star by Colonel H. E Meyer, of the American Legation The citation stated that Captain Stewart, between March 15 and March 26, 1944, had to' keep his troops in action continuously for periods of 72 hours without relief, under a hail of shells, with practically no time for rest. He maintained a record of service, and so conducted himself that he ensured an exceedingly high morale among the men in spite of many casualties in men and tanks.
