The report of the club captain' (Mr P. S Taylor); to be presented to the annual meeting of the Christchurch Golf Club on December 18, shows that membership was maintained during the season. The figures (with those of the previous season in parenthesis) were:—Life members, 11 (11)189 < 177 ): active juniors’, 30 (30); mid-week members, 4 (4); country members, 32 (33); honorary members 128 (140): total, 394 (394). There were 25 youths playing under limited privileges. The club championship was resumed last season after a lapse of five years, and was won by I, B. Cromb, who beat A R Blank at the thirty-eighth hole in the final. The tenth, eleventh, and twelfth greens were resown during March, and an excellent strike of grass resulted, the fairways being ready for play in October, The secretary-treasurer, Mr Bi G Donovan, returned from overseas during the year, and had resumed his duties with the club. Mr Taylor mentions that Mr D. E. Miller acted as secretarytreasurer during Mr Donovan’s absence and had given splendid service to the club.; The report concludes with reference to increased costs to be faced in the future, but with the return of men from service a larger membership was hoped for, to help bridge the gap between revenue and expenditure in the coming year.

RAWHITI CLUB The closing day of the Rawhlti Golf Club was held on Sunday, when there was a large attendance of members and visitors. The Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) presented trophies as follows: Men.—Senior championship (Shaw Cup), J. R. Davis; Intermediate championship (Lovell Cup), W. J. Mlnogue; junior championship (Lyttle Cup), D. B. Aspell; Stevenson Cup. C. Shaw; Mitchell Cup, K. C. McVinnie; A. W. Jones Cup, J. R. Davis; Thomas Robins Memorial Cup. J. H. Sprosten; Veterans’ Clip, S. Watson; Hawhiti Aggregate Pairs Cup, L. Higgins and N; Robertson: Throp cleek, D. B Aspell; Raeburn Cup, J. H. Sprosten and Miss R. Berry; Top Dog competition, Mr J. B. McClymonfs trophy, J. R, Davis and C. Shaw.

Women.—Senior championship (Bishop Cup), Mrs A. B. L. Smith; junior championship (Miles Cup), Miss Joan Gray; Gudgeon Cup, Miss Joan Gray; Watson Cup, Miss Joan Gray. Competitions held at the week-end resulted as follows:

Meh.—Driving, J. R. Davis; approaching, J. J. Potts; putting, C. Shaw. Women.—Driving, Miss R. Berry; approaching. Mrs H. A. Cardinal; putting, Miss M. Hooper. A mixed foursomes competition was won by J, R, Davis and Mrs J. J. Potts.
