Servicemen's Fttrlongh in Britain.— The Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash), answering an urgent question by Mr C. G. Harker (Opposition, Waipawa) in the House of Representatives, said that the Army Department had advised that servicemen from the Middle East visiting Great Britam on furlough had sufficient credit in their paybooks to meet their needs or they could obtain reasonable advances against pay, free rail fares being provided, and the soldier’s expenditure would be relatively small. They could also have £4O yearly transmitted to them from New Zealand, and it appeared on the present evidence that this sum, together with pay they could draw in sterling, was adequate. If the circumstances warranted, an increased remittance would be authorised.—(RAJ
