SATURDAY CLOSING DISCUSSED

Lyttelton shopkeepers held a meeting yesterday to consider the effect of the ai ?. er J. ment , to the Shops and Offices Act which provides for Saturday closing. Mr F. H. Heal presided. The majority of those at the meeting were in favour of closing, the only question being whether the step should be taken at once or deferred until after Christmas, The meeting adjourned until Monday, the various trades sections to consult with their organisations in the meantime.
