KIWIS WIN SECOND MATCH OF TOUR LLANELLY DEFEATED BY 16 POINTS TO 8 (Official Correspondent N.Z.E.F.) (Rec. 7.40 p.m.) SWANSEA, October 30. In a hard, willing game at Llanelly to£?y. the N.Z.E.F. team beat Llanelly by lb points to 8, the tourists having to work very hard for every point scored against the home team, which rose magnificently to the big occasion. The Kiwis were not nearly as good a side as that which beat Swansea, the forwards lacking the dash of Saturday's pack and the backs handling very uncertainly. The New Zealand forwards obviously found it difficult to plan to the local interpretation of the scrummage rules, and the Llanelly backs had a feast of the pail from the scrums. The Kiwisi scored four excellent tries, but for the greater P art ?/ A h ? game Llanelly was able to keep it tight, and most determined tackling and fine line-kicking made them a difficult team to score against. The match was watched by the biggest crowd since the visit of the 1935 All Blacks, about 10,000 being present, and the excitement throughout was intense. The Kiwis started well, Edwards setting the backs racing three minutes from the start, and the ball going to Boggs. who topped off a good run with a centring kick, Allen being up to score. Cook converted. Llanelly forwards made a fiery attack and then set the backs going, the outside half, Lewis, falling short with a dropped goal. The Kiwi backs were making every effort to play bright, open football, and a number of passing efforts failed against the indomitable tackling After the right-centre, Thomas, was short with an attempted field .goal, Bevan kicked a penalty goal for Llanelly. From a long line-out throw, Allen fielded and the backs moved well, Meates bumping off one defender before being pushed out of touch Cook failed in two long penalty shots. Then Edwards, receiving from a scrum, ducked cleverly through the arms of a winging forward and sent a long pass to Dobson. who side-stepped his way clean through the defence in a sensational run and scored. Cook converted. For the last five minutes of the spell play hung round midfield, Bevan failing with a penalty kick and Lewis missing another field goal attempt. At half-time, the score was:— New Zealand .. ..10 Llanelly .. ..3

Early in the second half. Bevan missed another penalty shot. From- a scrum Llanelly backs moved well, but when the movement broke down Kearney snapped up the ball and passed to Meates and to ¥aigh, who was tackled after a good run. nomas electrified the crowd with a great solo run through several opponents, and the left centre, Williams, carried on to near the Kiwi line. Bevan missed a penalty shot.

Then came a spectacular movement, Dobson cutting in beautifully and sending Boggs on a long run, Bond being on hand to take the ball when he was grassed and score near the posts. Cocjc failed to convert. Llanelly went into a series* of attacks in loose play, and in one, a forward. Young, crashed over the line, losing the ball in a tackle, but another forward, Williams, following up closely, touched down, Refs converted.

Play now became very willing and exciting, with the crowd in a frenzy of enthusiasm. Dobson and Allen showed up in a good thrust. Then Woolley broke away from the ruck in a slashing solo run, but Thomas countered with a great weaving run. The Kiwis secured from a scrum and the ball travelled along in the chain of backs to Meates. who was downed, but leapt up again. He touched the ball with his foot, then passed to Finlay. who burst through the defence and passed to Dobson, who scored. Cook missed with the kick. The game ended a few minutes later.
