OFFICIAL FORECASTS " The Press " Special Service WELLINGTON, October 31. The weather iorccast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological CfTiee. Wellington, and dealing with the 2i> hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is a deep depression south of Xeiv Zealand, and an anticyclone over south Australia. Forecast to 5 p.m.: fresh north-westerly winds predominating, with fair •weather, but a temporary change on the coast to cool south-westerlies and showers. / WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Fresh winds from a westerly quarter. Weather cloudy and cool, with occasional showers. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and mild yesterday, with a fresh north-west wind which changed to south-west in the late afternoon. The maximum temperature was CR.9 degrees. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was clear, with a light north-east breeze. The barometer was steady at 29.33 Inches (392.9 millibars).
