BOXING
STOCK BEATS RASH WINNER TO MEET VIC PATRICK (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 23. nte New Zealand boxer, A 1 Stock, 9st 12Jlb, battered his way to a points decision after a hard 12 rounds bout against Archie Rash, r 9st 831b. at the Sydney Stadium last night. The fight was regarded as a test as to whether the winner should be matched with the Australian champion, Vic Patrick. Stock won convincingly, but not impressively. His punching was crude, he swung roundarmers wildly at his opponent’s body, but maintained his attack from beginning to end. As a boxer, Stock is definitely not in Patrick's class, but as a rugged, tough fighter, who depends on solid body punching to win his fights, he might make it interesting for Patrick. Stock had Rash down twice in the fifth round and again in the sixth round.
