HEALTH PROBLEMS

CITY COUNCIL’S NEW COMMITTEE A health committee, some of the aims of which will be the maintenance of health, the co-operation of specialists preventive measures, the study oi tropical diseases, and health education, was formed by the City Council last evening, on the recommendation ot tne Housing Committee The personnel of the committee is.— Drs. H. Turner Jennings, G. Rich, J. P. McQuilkin, and S. Hunter, Miss Corkhill (Nurse Maude Association), ana the Medical Officer of Health with Cw. G D Griffiths, M. McLean, W. J. Dun, L. G. Amos, and C. D. W. L. Sheppard and the chief city inspector as the council’s representatives. The necessity for the committee was emphasised by Cr. McLean, who *Bl® that plans were being made for hospitals at Christchurch and Cashmere with 600 beds each, wtych would cost 30s a day to maintain.
