POST OFFICES ENTERED

SAFE TAKEN FROM LINCOLN The post offices at Lincoln and Tai Tapu were broken into on Saturday night. Little of value was found at Tai Tapu. but a substantial amount was taken from Lincoln. Admittance was gained to the Lincoln office thrpugh a window, and the thieves removed from the premises a safe containing a substantia] sum of money, employment and postage stamps, postal notes, and petrol coupons. At Tai Tapu. entrance was gained when the door was burst open. The office was thoroughly ransacked, but it is reported that little of value is missing. On Saturday evening thieves broke into a grocer’s store occupied by John Allan Henderson at 1058 Riccarton road. Entrance was gapped through a window in the shop. The full extent of the haul made by the thieves is not known, but it is thought that a quantity of groceries is missing.
