DUSTY TOWN HALL

Sir,—l notice that the Riccarton Borough Council has shown a handsome cash balance for the last financial year. Some of it could be put to good use in spring-cleaning the Town HalL My daughter attended a dance there last Saturday night and she and, her escort returned home looking as though they had just come out of a dust storm. A thorough vacuum-cleaning of the hall seems to be indicated.—Yours, etc., CLEAN IT UP. July 24, 1945. [The Riccarton Town Clerk (Mr R. Sarjeant) says: "The dust storm was caused from an overdose of floor powder applied by the lessee of the hall in order to improve the floor, which is seldom used for dancing."]
