The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 pin. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 2d houis following tire time of isaue. is «s luilows:— Situation; there is a very deep depression south-east of the Chatham Islands. Pressure is high over Australia. The forecast to 5 p.m. is for light, variable winds, but south-west-erlies, still fresh at times, in exposed coastal areas. Weather fair to fine and very cold, with isolated showers about Hanks Peninsula. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Variable winds with moderate to fresh south-westerly winds predominating. A few scattered showers, but weather predominantly fair and cold. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Although Christchurch was under heavy mow during the week-end; the weather was fine and sunny. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was cloudy and there was a slight south-west breeze. The barometer at 29.85 inches (1010,8 millibars) was rising.
