OFFICIAL FORECASTS ' The Press " Special Service WELLINGTON. July 9. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 80 hours following the time of issue, is us follows: Situation: there is a depression southeast of the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m.: fresh south-westerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with further showers and scattered snow inland. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate southerly to easterly winds. Weather fair; temperatures cpol. • CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was overcast and showery yesterday with a light south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 42.1 degrees. At 1 o'clock this .morning the sky was cloudy with a fresh south-west wind. The barometer, rising sharply, registered 39.88tn (1011.9 millibars).
