The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone covers New Zealand, but Is moving northeastward. A depression Is advancing across the South Tasman sea. Forecast to 5 p.m.: north-easterlies on the coast at first, but north-westerlies later coming general and freshening in places. Weather fair to fine and milder. •WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Variable winds, but north-westerlies freshening at times. Weather becoming cloudy to overcast, with scattered rain developing In the south. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The .weather was fine and sunny yesterday, with light, variable winds. The maximum temperature was 48.1 degrees. There was a frost of 12.3 degrees on Tuesday night. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear, with a very light south-west wind.
