REHABILITATION TRAINING
3063 APPLICATIONS NOW APPROVED
Former servicemen approved for various forms of trade training by May 31, 1945, numbered 3063, says the monthly statistical review of the Rehabilitation Department. Of 2339 were men returned from overseas service, and the remaining 724 were demobilised home service personnel, ,' , Those under training at the department’s full-time training centres on May 31 numbered 677. A further 179 were at that date at the different branches of the Disabled Servicemen's Re-establishment League, while 680 were being trained with private employers on a subsidy from the Rehabilitation Board, and there were 332 men who had resumed or revived preservice apprenticeships under somewhat similar subsidy arrangements. The number of former servicemen who had actually completed training in one or another of the various forms offered was 814 at the end of last month. In all categories,- 359 men had discontinued training because of ill-health or for other reasons. A further 132 former servicemen were approved for trade training under the department’s schemes during May. while 112 commenced training, 27 completed their courses, and 26 discontinued training for various reasons.
