MR J. CORKILL

(P.A.) WAIROA, May 88. The death has occurred of Mr Joseph Corkill, aged 78, Mayor of Wairoa from 1910 to 1917, and from 1918 to 1929. He was the first chairman of the Wairoa Fire Board and chairman for several terms of the Wairoa Harbour Board, and also a member of the power Board for several years and, since 1918. a member of the Hawke's Bay War Relief Committee. He was a life member of the R.S.A. Mr Corkill was one of the founders of the Clydebank Settlers’ Association, which carried out the settlement and development of that area.
