SOUTH CANTERBURY PROGRAMME

The South Canterbury Jockey Club will hold its winter meeting at Washdyke today, when some strong fields of the various grades of horses will parade. Rain commenced to fall yesterday afternoon, and prospects did not look very bright. In any case/ the track is certain to be holding, if not heavy. There are a few horses with two engagements. Prince Leighon and Tikakoura are to start In the Kingsdown Hack Handicap. Great Coon Is expected to contest the EUoughton Handicap, In preference to the Seadown Handicap. There will be only one bracket, Infuser and Blazeaway, in the Opihi Trot. Under the win and place system, the following horses will probably attract strong support:— 11.45 a.m.—Levels Hurdles: Tatting, Inscrutable, Boolamskee. 12.25 p.m.—Claremont Hack Handicap: Peter Gazelle. Chelton, Whitley. 1.5 p.m.—Opihi Trot: Gamble King, Sunny Nelson, Lou Hall. 1.45 p.m.—EUoughton Handicap: Great Coon, Royal Rae, Silver Sal. 2.25 p.m.—Pareora Hack Steeplechase: Double Light.
