JUGOSLAV .TROOPS IN AUSTRIA “Marshal ESroz, replying to a protest from the United States Government. suggested that Jugoslav troops should be allowed to remain in their present position in the Austrian province of Carinthia, but should be placed under the command of Field-Marshal Alexander,” reports the Associated Press correspondent in Belgrade, in a delayed dispatch. “The compromise suggested was in answer to one of two Notes which the American Ambassador (Mr Richard Patterson) handed to Marshal Brer. The Jugoslav Note, handed to Mr Patterson yesterday. pointed cut that Jugoslavia had not yet received an amwer from Britain and America to Marshal Eroz’s Note of April ?, asking for their agreement to his proposal that the Jugoslavs sheu'd occupy part cf Austin'. The Not- yesterday went on to say that Russia had ngre d to the proposal. Jugos’avia, in the absence of a reply from Britain and America, had gone ahead with the occupation.”—Bond n, May 17. TRIAL OF QUISLING QuLhng will be tried before a special jury composed of three judges and four laymen, reports the Nor wegian Chief Justice. The dale of the trial has, not yet been fixed. The judges will chocse the laymen. The Norwegian Government changed the law to provide for this unusual procedure. —London, May 17.
