Arnfc Captured on Channel Islands. —The unconditional surrender of the Channel Islands, one of the most heavily defended territories in Europe, yielded so much war material that it will take weeks to count, reports a correspondent. The Germans surrendered their arms and other equipment at dumps set up in Guernsey. The 15in gun coastal batteries, which are set in concrete along the buttressed sea front, field pieces, and anti-aircraft weapons will remain where they are, however, until they are dismantled. At Jersey three U-boats were taken, with at least two heavily-armed flak ships and several small vessels.—Rugby, May 15.
