Andrew, V.C., who was recently appointed an honorary aide-de-camp to the GovernorGeneral, and later Air Commodore S. Wallingford, who has relinquished the appointment of honorary aide-de-camp. The Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb), who has been ill for more than two months, is still not able to resume his Ministerial duties. His general physical condition is now good, but he is suffering from an eye ailment The Primate of New Zealand (Archbishop West-Watson) will leave Christchurch to-day on the first stage of bis journey to Australia, where he will attend a meeting of the Anglican Board of Missions. ‘ Addressing delegates to the Dominion conference of the Church of England Men’s Society in Christchurch yesterday, Archbishop WestWatson said he hoped to meet the Bishops of Melanesia, Polynesia, and New Guinea, as well as leaders of the Church in the Commonwealth, during his visit to Australia. His co-delegate from New Zealand would be Archdeacon A. E. Prebble, of Whangarei. Later, he would attend a meeting of the National Council of Missions In Australia. Another delegate at this meeting would be the Rev. H. W. Newell, of Christchurch, Greetings from the Acting-Prime Minister (the Hon. W, Nash), who is a member of the society, were extended by the Rev. Austin Charles to delegates attending the Dominion conference of the Church of England Men’s Society in Christchurch yesterday. Liggins, and the vice-presidents, secretary, and treasurer. Dr. H. C. Holland, who has accepted an industrial business appointment m Auckland, was bidden farewell by the Heathcote County Council at a function yesterday. The chairman (Mr F. W. Freeman) expressed the councils loss by Dr. Holland’s departure and welcomed his successor, Mr C. E. Pope. Mr A. Thompson, a former member of the Old Boys’ Club, and a Canterbury representative In 1920:21, was welcomed at a meetihg of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. The president, Mr Maxwell, said Mr Thompson’s interest in Rugby football had not waned. He had been president of the Taihape Sub-Union and a Wanganui Rugby Union selector. Mr A. J. A. Southbridge. and Waipara, then serving as a train control operator, iq the Christchurch district office. he was appointed traffic inspector for the Canterbury and West Coast dis•tricts, and held this position for six years, being subsequently appointed goods agent, Mr Fuchs was the recipient of two presentations, one being from the Master Carriers’ Association, customs agents, and businessmen, combined, the other from all branches of his staff. His successor is Mr E. H. Logie, of New Plymouth.
