Habits of White Herons.—Recent visitors to Okarito, South Westland, were Dr. R. A. Falla, of the Canterbury Museum, and Mr Basil King, Commissioner of Crown Lands. Hokitika, who have been studying the habits of the white heron. Dr. Falla obtained much information and was pleased with his trip. He has taken moving pictures of the herons nesting and feeding their young, and discovered 21 young herons and 12 large ones. This is said to be a record hatch for the herons.
