CZECHOSLOVAK FRONT
(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 3# The loss of Banska Bystrica, capital of free Slovakia, is admitted to-day in a brief communique from the commander of the Czechoslovak forces in Slovakia. He adds that his troops have withdrawn to mountainous positions. A Moscow communique says the Red Army in Czechoslovakia north and south of Uzhorod, has occupied more than 60 localities, including Berhovo, 15 miles south of Munkacevo. Almost the whole Czechoslovak eastern province of Ruthenia or CarpathoUkraine has now been liberated by the Russians. Mr Stalin, in an order of the day, announced the capture of Uzhorod, or Ungvar, the capital, which lies near the western border of the province adjoining Slovakia.
