MINING
* Alexander Mines.—The eighteenth ordinary annual general meeting of shareholders of Alexander Mines was held on October 18. There was a small attendance of- shareholders. Mr D. A. McVicar, chairman of directors, presided. The statements of accounts for the year ended May 31. 1944, were received, and adopted The two retiring directors, Messrs G. Lambert and J. B, Discaciati, were reelected. The retiring auditor, Mr M. J Fogarty, was also re-elected. All mining operations ceased last November because of shortage of labour, and since then the mine has been put on a care and maintenance basis until sufficient labour becomes available to warrant restarting operations.
