* BOWLING CLUB OPENS SEASON The opening of the Lyttelton Bowling Club's season,, which took place on Saturday afternoon, was attended by the biggest gathering of members, friends, and visitors for many years. Before declaring the seasoniopen, the president (Mr F. Barbour) thanked members who had worked hard in the preparation of the •green. In the previous season, Wednesday afternoon games for womfen members had been introduced and had been very popular. He hoped that these games would continue. ... Sinclair (skip), H. Fletcher, F. Mouat, H. Blaekler; Norton shield, T., Flrmin and S. Wales; president’s cup, H. Wales. Pillaging Alleged Arrested on Saturday afternoon on charges of pillaging cargo from the steamer Wahine, four waterside workers appeared at a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton yesterday morning, before Mr W. T. Lester, J.P. The men charged were William Arthur St. John, Francis Edward McNaulty, William Peter Bates, and Leonard Roland Blackburn. On the application of the police, thev were remanded to appear at Lyttelton on Friday, bail being allowed.
