MEMORIAL SERVICE
- ♦- ARCHDEACON G. W. YORK A memorial service to the Venerable Archdeacon George William York was held at St. Peter’s Church, Upper Riccarton, yesterday. ■ Archdeacon York was vicar of Greymouth for 25 years and was later Archdeacon in the Nelson district and vicar of Blenheim. On his retirement he came to Riccarton and assisted his brother, the Rev. Her.bert York, for nine years, He returned to Nelson about seven years ago. He died on October 11. A feature of the service was a reading from John Bunyan by Canon F. B. Redgrave, of Fendalton, who preached the sermon, taking his text from the Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 11, verse 24, “He was a good man'.’' The Rev. Prank Cook conducted the service. ■
