CALEDONIAN CONCERT ORCHESTRA
A programme of light music, was given at the Caledonian Hall "last evening by the Caledonian Concert Orchestra. The conductor was Mr Albert Willyams, the leader Miss Beryl Simon, and the accompanist .Miss Moyra Gibson. The programme ranged from the ballet music rrom Gounod's Faust to the Ballet Egyptian by Lulgini; from a . “Viola’ , waltz'' by Willyams to the Destiny waltz by Baynes; from a Marche Militaire opening to a Light Cavalry close. The orchestra is a new musical venture' in the city, but neither the' choice of music nor the technical approach to' could as yet be termed reassuring, V Soloists were Miss Mavis Dobbin, who sang Bishop’s - .‘Lb! ; Hear the Gentle Lark” ana other songs, and Mr Thomas E. West/whose principal song was Nevin’s "Mighty Lak’ a Rose.*
