OFFICIAL FORECASTS "The Press” Special Service. WELLINGTON. September 25. The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the £4 hours following the time of issue, is as follows; — ,Situation: an intense anti-cyclone Is centred over the North Island. A series of westerly depressions is passing to the south of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m.: northerly to northwesterly winds, fresh or strong at times. Rain in the Alps, fair to cloudy and mild elsewhere. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Winds from a westerly quarter, fresh or strong at times. Weather cloudy to overcast, with occasional rain. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was fine but for the most part cloudy, with a light northeast breeze. The maximum temperature was 63.2 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and there was no wind. The barometer, rising, registered 30.16 in (1012.3 millibars).
