The nassella tussock has made its appearance in the eastern end of Southland, and meetings of farmers are being held in the Mossburn, Lumsden, Athol, and Garston districts to discuss the menace with that of soil erosion. Most of the area affected or where these meetings are being held is hill or tussock country. As yet the tussock has not been particularly noticeable in Southland, according to a local report, but property owners are very concerned about its making headway.
