TURF GOSSIP

Track Work at Riccarton Conditions were favourable for. training at Riccarton yesterday, but as most of the horsqs engaged at Orari were raced at Ashburton last week, there was not much serious galloping. The trial grass was open and the going was a little holding. Night Believer accounted for Falconbridge over five furlongs in Imln 6 3-ssec, the last four in 51 3-ssec. Rahiri went over the same ground in Imin 7sec, the last three in 39sec, and Debater and Double Cross recorded similar figures. Air Lord and Bill Gundi were abreast at the end of five furlongs in Imin 6 3-ssec, the last four in 52 4-ssec, and Saint Joachim beat Warrigal over the same journey in Imin 6 2-ssec, the last four in 53 2-ssec. Tlkokoura and Twelve Pointer followed in Imin 7 2-ssec, the last four In 53sec. Over Six Furlongs Olga’s Choice and Bowmore ran six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the last four In 53 2-ssec Lyndon Lea and Findon were companions over the same distance in Imin 20 l-ssec, the last four in 54 4-ssec. King Burn and. Ration covered the same journey in Imin 20sec, the last four in 54 3-ssec. The former is a five-year-old gelding by King Lu from .Auburn Rose by Musketoon and is trained by S. Barr for Mr B. C. Rutherford. Useful Tasks Racket beat Norse over a rhile in Imin 49sec, lie second half in 54sec. Rawhamal and Maggiore went over the same ground in Imin 47sec, the first half in 51sec. The latter is likely to contest the Geraldine Cup in preference to tackling the gigantic task set her in the hurdle race. Arustra was several lengths in front of Arctic Dawn at the end of a mile in Imin 46 3-ssec, the second half in 51 3-ssec. Over Country Donadea gave his usual dashing display over five of the steeplechase fences, He was ridden by R, Register, who will have the mount on him at Wingatul. Doubtful Tatting suffered an injury to one of his legs in the hurdle race at Ashburton, and there is a doubt about him racing tomorrow. His stable, however,' will have a useful second string in Norse. Not Encouraging Night Pal was sent over two. hurdles yesterday, but his poor showing did not point to his early prospects as a hurdler,
