“The Press” Special Service. WELLINGTON, September 21. The weather forecast for Canterbury, Issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: —

Situation; Pressure is high to the north and low to the south. Forecast: to 5 p.m.: moderate south-westerly winds, soon turning north-westerly inland and north-easterly on the coast. A few coastal showers early In the day, but weather otherwise fair. Temperatures moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Forecast to 5 p.m.: moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly winds. Weather changeable, with occasional showers, especially about the high country. Temperatures cool.

CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine but mainly cloudy yesterday, with a light north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 57.2 degrees.
