AVIARY PROPOSAL FOR GARDENS

MOVE TO REOPEN QUESTION IN CITY COUNCIL Notice has been given to reopen in the City Council the question of the establishment of an aviary for the breeding of native birds in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. At the last meeting of the council it was decided' that such a project, the first of two alternatives named in the will of the late Mr James Foster, who bequeathed £IOOO to the council for the purpose, was impracticable, and the council decided that the money should be devoted to the second alternative, the establishment of a fernery.
