AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY IN AUSTRALIA
MORE THAN 3000 PLANES FOR R.A.A.F. CANBERRA. Sept. 19. More than 3000 aircraft of eight different types have been delivered to the R.A.A.F. by Australian aircraft manufacturers since the outbreak of war. said the Minister of Aircraft Production (Senator D. Cameron). He believed that Australian factories could produce aircraft for civil flying after the war, particularly the helicopter, at a price more than comparable with the price which would have to be paid for machines from overseas. . “I will be very much surprised if, after the war. we cannot produce in Australia a private aeroplane as cheap as the average car,” he said.
