ORGANISATION OF DEVELOPMENT
* LOCAL BODIES ASKED TO COOPERATE (Frcm Our Parliamentary Reporter 1 WELLINGTON, September 19. The Municipal Association and the Counties’ Association have been invited by the Director of the Organisation of National Development (Mr J. S. Hunter) to appoint representatives to discuss with him the relationships that should be established between local bodies and the organisation for the purposes of immediate post-war planni Mr Hunter said to-day that these discussions would not cover the same ground as the inquiry by the Parliamentary Committee into local government. because they were concerned with short range planning for the immediate post-war period. A good example of what he meant was provided by Christchurch local bodies, which were getting on with the job on a regional basis. The Parliamentary Committee was more concerned with long range planning. The Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, M.L.C., of Millerton. has been appointed one of the representatives of the Counties Association.
