RETURN TO NEW ZEALAND
PERSONNEL OF 2ND .-. N.Z.E.F. SAILORS AND AIRMEN IN PARTY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 18. Men with up to four years* service in the Middle East were among approximately 800 who returned to New Zealand recently. '■'„,■ In addition, there were Ave W.A.A.C. s who had been on service with the New Zealand Division,. 14 R.N.Z.A-F. men from the Middle East and India, and 24 members of the R.N.Z.N.V.R. from England and the Eastern Fleet. They were welcomed bv the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Eraser) and an official party, and arrangements were made for most of them to go home the same day for periods of leave up to three months. Civilian passengers included the wives and fiancees of servicemen and a Croat girl evacuated from Jugoslavia who is to join relatives in New ZeaTh'e following Canterbury, North Otago. and West Coast personnel returned, the men being fronvChristchurch, unless otherwise stated:— Bell.
