KILLED IN ACTlON.—Lieutenant Percy . Henry Brookes, a member of the Tank Corps, was killed In the heavy fighting at Cassino in July. A former pupil of the West Christchurch District High School, Lieutenant Brookes was for seven years in the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry. On the outbreak of war he joined the Tank Corps and was recently mentioned in dispatches. Because of his all-round knowledge of sport he was elected sports captain of his brigade. He is a son of Mr and Mrs Percy Brookes, of Horotane Valley, and leaves a wife and two young children.
