MISBEHAVIOUR IN BARS
♦ ATTITUDE OF LICENSING TRUST OFFENDERS TO BE WARNED •P.A.) INVERCARGILL. July 10. , Misbehaviour will not be tolerated in licensed premises controlled by the Invercargill Licensing Trust. Anyone offending in any way will be reported to the trust, and he will then receive fl letter drawing attention to the occurrence. The letter will also explain the aims and objects of the trust, and state that if the person cannot conduct himself in a proper manner he will not be served in a trust-controlled bar. This decision was made at a meeting of the trust to-dsy. The chairman (Mr Hugh Ritchie) said that one of the aims of the trust was to encourage orderly drinking, and he thought that anyone misbehaving should be reported. He considered that a letter from the trust drawing attention to the occurrence would have the desired effect. Now that the trust has fulfilled its obligation to make liquor available to the public, it has turned its attention to the big task of providing accommodation to the travelling public. This question was discussed at some length in committee, and it was disclosed after the meeting that the trust had discussed the possibility of erecting a hotel in the near future. A special meeting will be held at an early date, when the discussions on accommodation will be continued.
