DIVORCE CASES Several undefended petitions in divorce were heard by Mr Justice Northcroft yesterday in the Supreme Court. _ Alexander McKay, foreman, petitioned for the dissolution of his marriage with Bertha May McKay, to whom he was married in 1916, on the ground of desertion. Mr J. K. Moloney appeared for petitioner. Mr Roy Twyneham represented the respondent. A decree nisi, returnable In three months, was pronounced. Separation was the ground advanced by Halcyon Beryl Chaney, for whom Mr C. S. Thomas appeared, for her petition against Leslie’ Robert Burgess Chaney, engineer. A decree nisi was pronounced. Mr Tivyneham appeared for the respon-. dent. Failure on the part, of her,husband to comply with an order made for the restitution of conjugal rights was the reason that a decree nisi was granted to Kathleen Cairns Calvert. The- petitioner stated that she married Cecil George Calvert, a painter, in 1925, and that there were two children ’of the union. Mr Thomas appeared for Mrs Calvert, and Mr J. K. McMenamln, represented the respondent. A decree nisi was granted to William Bertie Belcher Gates, canister maker, for whom Mr, Thomas appeared, on the ground of the desertion of Phoebe Elizabeth Hilda Gates (Mr W. F. Tracy). Lydia May Johnston asked for the dissolution of her 'marriage with John Johnston, electrical linesman, on the ground of the latter’s adultery. A decree nisi was pronounced. Mr Tracy appeared for the petitioner, and Mr Twyneham for the respondent. Lucy Florastine Beavan (Mr Twyneham) was granted a decree nisi against William Alexander -Beavan, labourer, to Whom she was married in 1918. The parties agreed to separate in 1936, and had not resided together since. Mr Twyneham appeared for the petitioner and Mr E. A. Lee for the respondent. • As Leslie David Roberts, butcher, had failed to comply with an order for the restitution of conjugal rights to Rita Mina Roberts, the latter was granted a decree nisi. Mr Tracy appeared for the petitioner. Separation was the ground advanced fpr the petition of Ellen Mary Fitzgerald (Mr G„ G. Lockwood) for the dissolution of her marriage with Francis Herbert Dennis Fitzgerald, labourer. A decree nisi was granted. Mavis Martha Victoria Cairns (Mr Tracy) was successful in her petition against Freddric Everard Butler Cairns, a member of the R.N.Z.A.F., because of the latter’s adultery. A decree nisi, returnable in three months, was pronounced.
