ADMISSION OF TONGAN BOY TO WAITAKI
—♦ HIGH SCHOOL BOARD’S RESOLUTION (From Our Own Heporter.) OAMARU, June 8.
The Waitaki High School Board this afternoon decided to accept a Tongan boy as a -pupil at the Waitaki Boys’ High School in 1945. The boy’s admission to the school was recommended by the rector (Mr F. Milner) and by an old boy of the school, Lieu-tenant-Colonel G. T. Upton, in Fiji. The Minister of Health (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer) wrote thanking the board for its resolution concerning a proposal to take a number of boys from the Island territories into Waitaki “I am very glad to learn that the board has now adopted a resolution which places its position beyond doubt,” he said.
